Frequently Asked Questions

What is a canvas?
A canvas is a picture printed onto a 100% cotton canvas. The print is then stretched around a wooden frame until the required tension is reached. The outcome is striking.
What is a box frame?
A box frame is where a picture is laminated and then mounted onto a foam board. It is then placed into a frame with either a matte or gloss finish on a range of coloured wooden frames to suit your requirements.
What is a mounted poster?
Our mounted posters are laminated then applied to a black or white substrate that is either 5mm or 10mm thick. This gives it a very modern look that sits flush with the wall. Either a gloss or matte finish is available to suit you.
What is an acrylic panel?
An acrylic panel is where the image is printed onto a glossy film and then mounted to the reverse of an acrylic panel. The acrylic panels resemble glass and give an image a very stylish appearance. What’s more, the image is fully protected by the panel. We do not use cheaper sandwich-style acrylic panels, as we pride ourselves on using only the high quality materials.
What is matte and gloss?
Although of the same quality, matte and gloss have very different appearances. Gloss is the shiny look that appears on most photographic images that are printed from your standard film cameras. In contrast, matte has no shine to it and is better for places with unpredictable lighting or for use in presentations. Whatever your preference, we can help.
When talking about stretched canvas options, what do gallery wraps, mirroring and colour borders mean?
A gallery wrap is where the image is wrapped around the wooden frame. This may not work for some images as it can mean important parts of the original image (for example a person’s face positioned close to the edge of the original photo) may not be viewable when the stretched framed canvas is viewed face-on. Where this is the case, we use mirroring so that your images are not compromised. We use special software to mirror or reflect a strip of each outer edge of the digital image so as not to lose any of the original image detail when the framed canvas is viewed face-on. Mirroring essentially keeps a gallery wrap style without the loss of any of the image content. If this is not to your taste, we can instead create colour borders for the edges, taking the most dominant colour from the image to again retain the full image when viewed face-on. Gallery wraps, mirroring and colour borders only apply to stretched canvas products.
Do you do any other products & different sizes?
Yes, we do. We are only limited by your images and imagination. We can print and frame in bespoke sizes and onto a variety of substrates and finishes but have decided to focus with our most popular products to start with. If you are in need of something special that you cannot find online please do contact us and we’ll do our best to accommodate you and your product.
How long will my product last?
The inks that we use can last up to 75 years without fading (subject to room conditions). All of our high quality products can last a lifetime if cared for in the right way.
